2011 At a Glance

This year has been a whirlwind!!! We were just getting settled in Virginia when the year began and didn't know many people here. Then we found Harvest Church Central and our lives were forever changed. We have been blessed with lifelong friendships and we have learned so much and have grown even more in our faith. I also went from being a mother of one sweet little girl to a mother of FOUR precious babies in a matter of six months. Twelve months ago we were getting ready to welcome our son Eli (in February) and I could not have imagined what was in store for us come late July. As many of you already know, Derek and I were blessed to add two precious girls to our family. Ansleigh and Alyssa came into our lives unexpectedly (to us) but not to God, He had a plan all along. It has been a huge adjustment for us, but we are starting 2012 with a sense of readiness. I feel like we are finally finding our groove as a family of six and the days have become a little less hectic. The year ahead of us will not be an easy one, Derek will be deployed for the better half of it, but I'm ready to take on the challenge of being a spouse to a deployed sailor. We knew this time would come and we've done the best we can to prepare. I'm looking forward to growing closer to Christ and really leaning on Him during the hard times. It's great to know that I will not be alone :)
So goodbye 2011!!! It was a great year.... here are a few photos to recap (because you all know it wouldn't be a proper blog post from me without pictures)

Feb 8th we welcomed Eli Wescott into the world

It was a very exciting moment for us.
We are so blessed to have him.

Sophia became a big sister this year

She also turned 3 years old

We found Harvest

Ansleigh and Alyssa shortly after they came to stay with us

We spent a lot of time at the beach

We laughed a lot :)

They became sisters

Ansleigh and Sophia began Pre-K

We said goodbye to the Volvo

And hello to Big Bertha!

Took a family vacation to Myrtle Beach

Celebrated Ansleigh's 4th Birthday

Survived our first hurricane (Irene)

Gained custody of the girls (this was a very happy moment!!)

The big girls started dance

We became a big happy family :)

Those were just a few events that stick out in my mind about 2011. I can only pray that 2012 will bring as much joy.

Now, on to my 2012 resolutions, because you just can't start a new year without them, right?
1) To read my Bible through. I've started the reading
plan with our church (which you can find here).
I've never read it through, so I'm pretty excited
     about it.
2) To survive our first deployment.

I feel like that's about all I'm capable of committing to this year; of course I have lots that I want to accomplish over the next year, but will not put too much pressure on myself by making those things into a resolution. Mostly I just want to enjoy life and be happy. Hope you all have a wonderfully blessed year!

  2. I can't believe it's already 2012... you're right... there has been so much that has happened over the past year. I'm so blessed to have a family that sees the glass as "half full" instead of "half empty"... your positive attitude towards life will bless you and the people around you! With God, ALL things are possible~ and we are all seeing His work, right before our eyes! What a great year it has been and I'm so looking forward to seeing what God's plans are for us in 2012! I love you Mandy & Derek and are blessed to call you my family! <3
