13 Weeks

So I skipped a week on the baby update. I guess I just haven't had much to report. I haven't had any nausea lately (yay!!) but I have been getting some serious headaches. Usually a nap will cure them though, and since Derek has been getting home so early in the day I have been able to take naps pretty regularly :)

So I'm officially in my second trimester now! And according to
Baby Center, this is what's going on this week:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, an
d her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

We have an ultrasound scheduled for the 21st of this month to find out if it's a boy or a girl. We're really hoping it's not too early to tell, but even so, at least we'll get to see the baby soon. Last time we had an ultrasound I was only 9 weeks along and you couldn't even see arms and legs on the baby yet. At 15 weeks the baby will be completely formed, so it will be incredible just to see how much things have changed in 6 weeks time. Plus, if they can't tell the sex of the baby yet, we get to go back for a free ultrasound later.

Well Sophia is bugging me to come play puzzles with her, so I guess I better go. She has really been demanding a lot of attention lately. She will come up to us and say "you come play with me? We play gether." And how can you say no to that?? lol

11 weeks

Today marks the beginning of week 11 in my pregnancy. According to Baby Center, here is what's going on this week: Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long, about the size of a fig, and is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden. She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

Sophia has been so sweet this week. If I'm laying on the couch she will come to me and say "I give you hugs and kisses and you feel better mommy." So I've had someone here to make me feel all better :)
Today we asked her what we we're going to name the baby if it was a girl and she said "Chinchilla" and if it's a boy she said his name will be "daddy" lol. I don't think she's quite grasped the concept of baby names yet. She does however talk about the new baby in mommy's belly all the time, and she told me today that she is excited to be a big sister. I can't wait for the moment Sophia gets to meet her new baby brother or siste
r!

Here is a picture of me today. I can't believe I'm already showing!! It's happening a lot sooner with this pregnancy, I hope I don't end up bigger than I did last time!!!!!

Car Wash

Last week we took Sophia to the car wash so she could "help" daddy wash the car. She had fun putting the coins in the machine and then playing in the bubbles. I guess she wasn't much help, but she sure did have a good time. Here are some pictures of the day.

10 Weeks

Today I am 10 weeks along! This means I'm 1/4 of the way done!! The photo to the right is an estimate of how big the baby is today... that's a big difference in just a few weeks! This week marks the beginning of the fetal period. All major organs are in place and are beginning to function. It still amazes me just how much they change in a matter of weeks, and in the next few weeks it will double in size again! I'm feeling really good lately. I didn't even need the nausea medication yesterday. Only a few more weeks until I'm in my second trimester, and I expect by then I will be feeling back to normal. I can't wait!

Yesterday we went to the AT&T store to look at new phones for our upgrades, and Sophia had the best time! We had to wait quite a while to be seen by someone, so she decided she would make friends with a couple of guys who were sitting on the floor talking. She would peek around the corner and when one of them would turn around she would squeal and run away laughing! It was so funny. So then the guys started talking to her, they were asking how old she was, and what her name was, and it was so weird to see her standing there having a full on conversation with people, like she was all grown up! They talked for a while about everything from the colors of the walls to the moon, lol. She was looking at phone covers on the wall and picked one up and screamed "I want this one! it's my fervorite!!!" LOL. I have never heard her use the word before and thought it was so funny. She is learning so much every day that I can't even keep up with her! Makes me glad that I decided to do this blog because i know I will read this again one day and remember exactly what she did.

My new blog

I created this blog for family and friends who live far away and want to know what's going on in our lives more. Mostly because we are pregnant again, and Sophia says and does the funniest things every day, and I wanted something a little more private than Facebook where I can write down the craziness of our lives right now and share it with you. And then one day I will be able to go back and remember everything that happened. So I guess this will be more of a journal for me that you are free to follow along and read :)
here is a picture of our 9 week ultrasound. baby still looks like a little peanut, but we are already in love. Derek says it looks like a boy, but we won't find out for another 6-10 weeks if he's right. Sophia points to it and says "that's your tiny wittle baby in your belly?" She thinks that she has a tiny baby in her belly too. It's really cute. I made the mistake of letting her watch A Baby Story on TLC the other day and now every time she sees someone with a pregnant belly (on tv or out in public) she says "they have a baby in their belly, and the have to push it out!!!" It still amazes me how much her 2 year old brain can understand sometimes.
I got some medicine from the doctor and I'm feeling MUCH better. So hopefully this is the end of the morning sickness and I can start to enjoy this time. I'm really looking forward to feeling the baby move around!
